TLV320AIC3104: Power supply of analog and digital

Hi,

I'm using TLV320AIC3104 chip in my design for tone generation using NRF5340 as my controller for this.

Supply voltage for this chip is AVDD i.e 3V3 and for my IOVDD is 1V8.

AVDD is for the analog DAC supply and IOVDD is my digital supply for this chip. I want low noise design with best performance.

My input voltage to the board is 5V. My concern is what will be the best effective practice to give power supply voltage to this chip.

Single LDO with dual output of 3V3 and 1V8 .

Or two separate LDO's for 3V3 and 1V8. What will be effective for my output ?

Hi Falguni,

IOVDD is not very noise sensitive. This is just a digital supply and sets logic levels on digital signals.

DRVDD and AVDD is more important and these are the DAC and ADC supplies respectively. Take note of the PSRR specs provided in the datasheet. If Ripple(dB) - PSRR < SNR then the noise on the supply will get masked by the noise floor and will not be heard or measured. Use this to consider which LDO you use.

From a practical design standpoint, should I:

Use a single dual-output LDO (3.3 V + 1.8 V), or
Use two separate LDOs (one low-noise LDO for 3.3 V AVDD/DRVDD and a standard LDO for 1.8 V IOVDD)?

Hi Falguni,

I can't choose one or the other for you. What you should consider is the cost between the two solutions you propose. I imagine the dual output is cheaper. But if you can use a dual output LDO that meets the noise requirement as I gave above then that would be the solution to go with.

Can you please suggest me any LDO of dual output I can choose in my design to supply power to the TLV320AIC3104 so that my medical audio device has low noise from the LDO side . My input volatge is 5V and i need output voltage as 3V3 for analog supply and 1V8 for the digital (IOVDD) supply.

Output current of LDO must be almost 350mA for safer side approach.

Dual output fixed 1.8 and 3.3 with 500mA load regulation. Noise performance is also plenty good enough.

TLV751180330PDSQR for this LDO output voltages is fixed i.e for channel 1 it is 1.8V and for channel 2 it is 3.3V .My input voltage is 5V for both the channels.Tell me if this values for capacitors is correct. Also, verify the connections for this LDO .
