TAS2780: Hardware Protection Capability Support in TAS2780 AMP

Part Number: TAS2780
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TAS2781

Hi Team,

Could you please help to comment on the customer's questions below?

Do you know if TAS2780 AMP can support hardware protection capability? If yes, is there any sample code for our reference to develop?

Detail test requirement: including IV sensing, short/open circuit detection, thermal protection, and overcurrent protection — fault events are reported to the SoC via the IRQZ pin, enabling the SoC software layer to execute system-level protection actions (such as cutting speaker power), thereby forming a closed-loop protection mechanism of "hardware detection + software response".

Best regards,

Terry

  • Hi Terry,

you can find the information in the datasheet:

but as there is no DSP inside of TAS2780, if customer want further protection such like speaker thermal and excursion protection, it should use platform ADSP or other part to running the algorithms.

alternatively, you can use TAS2781 which is TAS2780 add DSP, it will be easy to use the protection.
