TPA2017D2 Gain select

If you disable the AGC, the gain is set to 6 dB. If you need different gain settings, you can use I2C to program the TPA2016D2, or you could use the TPA2012D2 which has four different hardware-programmable gains.

Hi Don,

I see that on the data sheet now. The problem is I already have printed the PCB design based on the TPA2017. I need the gain to be higher at default, so it looks like I may be able to contact a TI rep to bring the 6 dB higher. Please let me know your thoughts.

In order to burn a custom part, the minimum quantities are pretty steep. With any luck, we've made one for another customer, let me see if I can round that up. How much gain would you like?

Well to put it simply I need it as loud as it can go without distorting the signal, my input is a audio codec (PCM2900C) playing standard .wav files. I wanted most of my volume control to come from the media player on the computer, but still be able to push the amplifier as loud as it can go at full volume on the computer. What would you suggest? I would say put it at the max 30 dB but would you advise not to if I want to get a clean signal?
