Q: Does TPA3124D2 support current protection?  

I tried to find performance data of the TPA3124D2. But, the datasheet of TPA3124D2 doesn't contain current protection.

So, Here's the question. The TPA3124D2 have current protection function or Not? If it have, what's the value?

    Hi,

    The TPA3124 has a protection against shortcut between channels, or from channel to Vcc, or from channel to GND. I think that such a protection is based in current sensing, and as such, it is a current protection function. But there is no value spec. on the datasheet.

    Hi, Patrick,

    In addition to what Albert said, this is discussed on the bottom of page 17 of the data sheet. If a short is detected, the outputs are immediately switched off. I don't remember the exact timing, but something like 250 ms later, the outputs are re-enabled to check to see if the short is still there. If it is, the outputs are switched off again, and the process repeats. Once the short is removed, the device will start playing audio again.
