LM4995 application circuit

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LM4995

Hi All,

Is it possible to drive two speakers(dual-speaker Amplifier) single endedly with both outputs of the LM4995?

  • Knighty,

What exactly are you trying to acheive?  Although I would not suggest you do this, it is possible to drive two speakers single-endedly from from each output.  You will need to capacitvely couple each speaker, and you will have less output power compared to the BTL configuration.  The bigger issue is that the two outputs are 180 degrees out of phase with each other, so you will get acoustic cancelling.

The better way to do this is to drive two speakers in series, or in parallel (depending on your impedance) in the BTL configuration.  You get the two speaker drive and none of the acoustic cancellation.
