TLV320aic12k help

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TLV320AIC12K

Hi,

I am planning to use TLV320AIC12k in an audio application. I wanted to know if it was a wise decision to use it in my design, as it is a pretty old chip. While I also compared it with newer versions of the chip but I couldn't find much difference. And the chip already has all the functionalities that I need. So, please guide me whether to use TLV320IAC12k in a new design or not. I also wanted to know if there has been any problems with the chip before.

Thanks,

Abhishek.

  • Hi Abhishek,

Although there are no current plans to discontinue the AIC12K, it is a very old part. If you are already very familiar with the AIC12K, then there is probably not a big risk in using it. However, if you are just starting with the AIC12K, then your time would probably be better spent learning the AIC3104 or the AIC3204. Support for the newer parts is much stronger since the development team is still available.
