TPA3110D2 evaluation board

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPA3112D1, TPA3110D2

I just ordered an evaluation board (http://www.ti.com/tool/tpa3110d2evm). A couple of things:

1. I'm wondering if Gerber files are available in RS-274X format. I'm also wondering if PCB files are available, and if schematic files are available (like those you can open with Cadence SPICE or similar program). Please let me know

I really like this board and would like to use it as a base for some projects I'm working.

2. I'm wondering if the tpa3112D1 and the tpa3110D2 would be interchangable on the evaluation board. Looking at them, they look it to me. Assuming I would just ground one of the inputs and rewire the outputs just a little bit. Anyone see any other issues?

3. I ran into a little snap when playing around with another class D amplifier. I am running it off of 18V batteries. I found that when they are close to dying, I start getting noticeable distortion at higher volumes. I'm thinking I could but a small boost (or even a step down) regulator in order to keep that voltage steady. Of course, I imagine it would completely cut off when the batteries drop low enough, but would be better than the distortion in my opinion. Does this seem like a plausible solution?

I appreciate the help, looking forward to any comments.

  • Hi, Sunny,

Welcome to e2e, and thanks for your interest in our products!!!

I honestly don't know what format our gerber files are, but they are posted here. Let me know if they are the format you're looking for.

We, unfortunately, don't have schematics available in the programs you mention. We will be designing our new EVMs in Altium if that helps you... But, this one is done in an older package.

    2. Yup, they are essentially p2p.

    3. One of ours? This shouldn't be a problem... We have quite high power supply rejection. However, if the internal resistance of the battery increases so much that it can't provide the required current, then this will be a problem, but I'm not sure a boost or buck will help you there.

  • 1.  Thanks Don. Its great to hear that new EVMs will be done in Altium. What programs if any are the design files available in?

    2. Awesome, that makes things very convenient.

    3. It was not one of yours, I plan on testing the TI board today. Sounds like it will be a better solution than what we were using.
