Active crossover with different delays on the high and mid output

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TAS5548, TPA5052, TPA5051, TPA5050

Hi all,

I would like to bulid a speaker system with active crossover therefore I'm planning to order a tas5548evm. I have a horn bass and midbass speaker, therefore I need to have a certain delay on high and mid outputs due to the different path lengths. This delay is in the range of 4,5ms (1,5m/340m/s) and 1.5ms (0.5m/340m/s). I did not find any possibilities with tas5548 processor to implement these delay. Could You help me to find a solution? Maybe with an externam memory chip? Or a differend audio codec with miniDSP?

Thanks in advance!

Regards, Daniel

  • Hi, Daniel,

Welcome to e2e, and thanks for your interest in our products!!!

As you surmised, the TAS5548 does not offer delay elements.

I believe you could possible obtain these delays with a codec with miniDSP, but I'm not 100% sure if there is enough memory.

We do have a couple products, TPA5050, TPA5051, and TPA5052 which offer programmable time delays. Those might be perfect for your project.
