Hi,
Is outside clock input(400kHz~1.2MHz) to Sync pin possible if TPA3116D2 is Slave mode?
My customer wants to use the frequency that TPA3116D2 can't set in "AM0, 1, 2 pin".
Ex . fosc = 800kHz etc..

Kanemaru

Hi Kanemaru,
The SYNC freq should be in the range of 100KHz +-10% for optimal operation. The internal PLL will provide the desired PWM siwtching freq based on the AM pins settings.

Hi,Paul
Thank you for the information.
I have two questions I want to ask.
[Q1]
If it is the frequency that is setable in "AM0, 1, 2", is the outside clock input to Sync pin possible?
Ex. Outside clok input = 376kHz~424kHz (AM2=0 , AM1=0 , AM2=0)
Outside clok input = 1128kHz~1278kHz (AM2=1 , AM1=0 , AM2=0) etc..
[Q2]
Can TPA3116D2 change the setting of "AM0, 1, 2" during operation?
(Does TPA3116D2 not malfunction? If there is any inconvenience, please tell me.)
Regards,
Kanemaru
Hi Kanemanu,
The external clock input needs to be 90KHz - 110KHz range for optimal operation for all AM modes. The AM0, 1, 2 will determine the output PWM switching freq, For example, with external clock = 100KHz, AM0=L, AM1=L, and AM2=L, the output swtiching freq is 400KHz. TPA3116D2 will not malfunction when the AM mode is changed during operation. However, we recommend MUTE the amp first before the change for pop/click consideration.

Paul.
