Audio CODEC advice

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TLV320AIC1103, TLV320AIC1106, TLV320AIC3100

We've got an application looking for a Lower resolution Audio Codec (24 bits is not required)
Supports Microphone (electret /condenser mic) natively
Compression desirable to minimize over the air data

Currently looking at TLV320AIC1103 and/or TLV320AIC1106. Are there better options?

Also, what are the pros and cons of PCM vs. I2S for digital audio interface?

The TLV320AIC3100 is another option http://www.ti.com/product/tlv320aic3100 although its still has 24 bit ADC and DAC. The 3100 also allows L, R, I2S, TDM, DSP configurable Dig Audio Interface.

Hi, Jayden,

I agree with Jeff - the '3100 would be a better choice. Those other two parts are very old, and may not be around much longer...
