TPA0233 EVM Mono Speaker to Stereo Headphone Switching

I have just ordered the TPA0233 Evaluation Module as this looks perfect for the product I am developing, as it requires a mono speaker and a stereo output jack.

In the TPA0233 User Guide it shows that to switch between mono speaker output and stereo jack output, you apply 5VDC to the STEREO/MONO via.

With most consumer applications the process of switching the audio signal between the mono speaker included with the device and the stereo output jack is usually performed by inserting a male jack into the female stereo output jack. How do you get this process to work with the TPA0233, or is the logic already included with the device, just not documented in the user guide?

I will be using the TPA0233EVM in standalone mode, as I am working with the Tiva C LaunchPad.

I believe the circuit you described is shown on page 2 of the data sheet, isn't it?

Hi Don,

My question is in regards to the TPA0233 Evaluation Module (TPA0233EVM).

Is the circuitry detailed on the data sheet included with the TPA0233 Evaluation Module? Or more specifically, is the 3.5mm female audio jack on the TPA0233 Evaluation Module wired to include this feature? (If it has not been, then why include the 3.5mm female jack?)

Thanks for making me aware of the circuitry to make this happen, this will be very useful for when I need to integrate the TPA0233 into my own board.

The schematic of the TPA0233EVM is shown in Figure 2–5. TPA0233 EVM Schematic Diagram of the Users Guide.
