TSC2301 I2S without MCLK

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TSC2301

Hello,

my uC does not support the MCLK signal. The TSC2301 should be able to use internal oscillator as the source for the PLL, bit COMK = 1. The MCLK pin is grounded. I have also enabled the crystal oscillator OSCC = 1. However I cannot get PLL on the /PENIRQ pin (PLPN= 1).

Do I need to connect an external crystal to COI, COO? Currently these are left floating because I assume that there is the internall oscillator.

  • The internal crystal oscillator of the TSC2301 requires an external crystal to operate. Please connect a crystal as shown in figure 44 of the TSC2301 datasheet. Page 38 contains information about clock rates and PLL settings as a function of desired sampling rates.
