TAS5518

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TAS5518

We have seen the TAS5518 output DC. We have not been able to duplicate this except by using a spdif source that we can set a DC offset into and making all the bi quads pass through.

Is there any setting we can inadvertently  set that would allow the TAS5518 output DC with out ?

  • Hi, Jerry,

I am surprised that you can get DC out at all. In all of our newer devices, they have dc blockers built in.

If you can get DC out with a DC input, then I assume you could possibly get some kind of instable filter which might give DC output.

I guess you can't easily duplicate the issue?

    -d2

  • The only yway we have been able to duplicate it is as I said. But that is not the usual configuration.

We have turned on the bit that sets the high pass filter that is separate from biquads.

    6.4 System Control Register 1 (0x03)

    Bit D7
    1 − − − PWM high pass enabled

We aren't sure if this is a solution but it is independant of the biquads so if they get screwed up we thought this bit would still block DC.

However now we have  new problem.  With this bit set if we initialze with no auduo input and then apply audio there is no audio. We have to apply audio and then RESET( reinitialize) the TAS5518. Is that to be expected?
