PCM2705 and AVdd decoupling capacitor

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: PCM2705

Hi,

I'm planning to built an USB to S-PDIF converter based on the PCM2705. I noticed that the analog supply requires a 10uF decoupling cap, which is rather large. In my application, I wont use any of the analog outputs. Is it possible to reduce, or even not consider that decoupling capacitor?

I'm asking this, because it is important to keep the PCB size to a minimum.

Kind regards, Samuel Lourenço

  • Hi, Samuel,

We don't recommend not having a decoupling cap on that pin.

As for the value, it will depend on many different variables in your system, so it is difficult for us to tell you the minimum value that will work in your system. You will have to verify it.
