TPA4861 shutdown

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPA4861, TPA6211A1, TPA6205A1

Hello,

I'm using the TPA4861 on a new project, and will be connected to a uP for shutdown control. The TPA4861 will be powered at 5V, and the used GPIO on the uP is powered at 3v15.

My question is, can I connect directly the uP GPIO to the SHUTDOWN input pin on the TPA4861? (i.e. what is the VIH_minimum for the SHUTDOWN control signal, when the device is supplied from +5V)

Best regards, and happy new year from Spain!

  • Hi, Carlos,

Welcome to e2e, and thanks for your interest in our devices!

May I ask how you chose this device? We have newer, better-performing devices that I would suggest for a new design - eg, TPA6205A1, or TPA6211A1.

To answer your question on the TPA4861, the thesholds are 0.1*VDD and 0.9*VDD.

  • Hi, Carlos,

Sorry, I just realized the TPA4861 won't work for your application due to your low uP voltage. You will need to use one of our newer devices which have lower threshold voltages.
