Hi,

I've got a design where I have an external DSP that must be able to set the clock frequencies and be a slave to them.

I want to use a PLL1706 which I can control from the external DSP, feed the SCK02 master clock to some TI component (DAC would be ideal) and then have that DAC be able to create the LRCK and BCLK out to the external DSP. I think the PCM51xx family would do this, but would it only do this in software configured mode? And is there a more efficient design solution?

Hi EKiN,

The PCM51xx family would be the best option to achieve what you described. These devices can be used to generate a LRCK and BCLK.

Hi Mike,

Thanks for the reply. In the case of using the PCM51xx can we forego having the PLL1706 as well? And just use the PCM51xx to create the desired LRCLK and BCLK by using the internal PLL?

Hi EKiN,

As long as the PCM51xx that you choose can support your desired frequencies I do not see an issue with forgoing the PLL1706.
