Power consumption of of Hardware shutdown status which has VBAT(3.6V) connection to VBAT and SW(B4, B5) of TAS2552?

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TAS2552, TAS2552EVM

Hello,

I hopes to get confirmation of Max Power consumption of Hardware shutdown status which has VBAT connection to VBAT and SW(B4, B5) of TAS2552.

I have tested with TAS2552EVM and found that power consumption is not stable. And the current is changing whenever I do power cycle (Power off/on).

I verified with TAS2552EVM and custom board that Power consumption in Hardware shutdown status (from VBAT, EN=0) with VBAT=3.6V is 0.1uA as described in datasheet. My custom board (portable two way radio) followed reference design of TAS2552EVM, so VAT and SW are connected to Battery directly. I couldn't find power consumption condition for VAT and SW are connected to 3.6V.

I also found that SW ports are connected to Boost Converter in TAS2552 but I can't figure out max current of VBAT and SW in Hardware shutdown status. Please let me know Max power consumption of Hardware shutdown status which has VBAT connection to VBAT and SW(B4, B5) of TAS2552. I think SW needs to be controlled by other power device such as LDO or Load SW, but we don't have much space in PCB, so hopes to get TI's confirmation of Power consumption.

Thanks,

Shaka

  • Hi Shaka,

Consumption from VBAT in hardware shutdown and VBAT connected to 3.6V will be 0.1uA.
What is the measurement you're trying to do?
Are you connecting SW pins directly to 3.6V without the boost inductor?
Sorry I think I confused a little in your explanation.

  • Hi Ivan,

I found current is going up over 100uA many times when I apply 3.6V to only Vbat which is connected to VBAT(D1) and SW(B4,B5) through L1(2.2uH) on TAS2552EVM. And I found the power consumption is not stable. Every time I got over 0.1uA and the current stops increasing at 10~20uA or stops over 100uA in many times.

I only could get 0.1uA power consumption after I remove R15 and supply 3.6V to VBAT(D1) only, not SW(B4,B5). Please refer to the reference schematic of TAS2552EVM as below.

I hopes to get answer for below questions.

Can I get detail block diagram for boost converter inside TAS2552?

What power consumption is expected when 3.6V is applied to VBAT(D1) and SW(B4,B5) through L1(2.2uH)?

    Thanks,

    Shaka

  • Hi Ivan,

I hope to get answer for above questions.
