One customer want to use LM1972 for Volume control in his audio system.But he want to give its bipolar signal directly to the dpot while Vss tied to ground.
At the dpot output can he expect exact attenuated signal ? If not what do you suggest a dc offset to work with single supply operations?
Can there are any way to give DC bias given internally as it is an audio grade device?

Hello Sourodeep,

This request appears to be about the LM1972, and not on the TPL0102 (or another product that falls under the I2C product line), I am moving this to the audio amplifier group for better support.

Hi, Sourodeep,

Unfortunately, the LM1972 was designed in the 1990s when many audio signals were single-ended. So, if your customer has a differential signal, they will need to use an op amp to convert it to single-ended before driving it into the LM1972.

We have many parts that have integrated volume control, if you can explain a little bit more about your customer's system, I can help you select a more appropriate device.

Hi Don,Thanks for you clarification on LM1972Customer requirements
15W stereo 4 ohm(dual channel) loads with volume control and mute
12V supply voltage
We are trying with TPA3110D2 along with a MSP and digipot for volume control.
But he did not want use -ve supply on the board for digipot.
Can you suggest anything based on the requirments ?Thanks and regards,Sourodeep

want to give some additional info and I aslo want to share the schematic in what we are actaully working on

1st of all our signal are bipolar but not differential ( please refer audio amp circuit)

customer 1st tried to work withTPL0102 for volume control but it causing a lot of pop.

thats the reason we are looking for LM1972

I am here by attaching the design schematic please ask where any clarification needed.
