tas5086 using I2S not producing sound

HI,  have a board with the tas5086.  I use a freescale processor to load the reg settings.  I am bringing in an I2S signal (BCLK, LRCLK and SDIN) from another board and am trying to convert this to a PWM with the tas5086.  Both boards are running separate MCLKs at 12.228MHz .  So far no sound.  I have reg 0x00 set to  0x6D and reg 0x1B set to 0x00.

Do I need to share the same MCLK for this to work or any ideas.
