TLC320AD77 alive and dead

I am trying to use this converter to sample a signal. I am using an fpga to drive its clocks and, looking on the analog oscilloscope the device seems to be alive but on the first 16 clock cycles I get both 1's and 0's very fast even with no input while the rest of the clock cycles I get 0's. It seems that the device is either unstable or it resets very fast. I don't understand why.

MCLK is at 8MHz and a sampling frequency of 31.25kHz. This is not a standard frequency for this IC but I don't expect this to be the cause. Any clues please?

regards,

Catalin

  • Hi, Catalin,

Welcome to E2E and thank you for your interest in our products.

It could be related with the clock settings. If the clocks are not synchronized and don't respect the clock timing, they could be a possible root cause. Have you checked if both clocks are synchronized? Have you tried with the standard frequencies?
