TAS5614LA PBTL connection

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TAS5614LA

Hi Engineer,

I would like to confirm TAS5614LA PBTL connection.

In the datasheet, it said that each output have an individual inductor as below. (totally 4pcs)

However in my understanding for PBTL, we can eliminate 2 inductors. Which means that inductor is needed just one for 2 conbined BTL output (totally 2pcs), if inductor can handle output current.

Is my understanding correct?

  • Hello,

For the TAS5614LA it is recommended to use 4 inductors in PBTL. For high power devices this is generally the case to avoid current spikes and shoot through on output bridge due to small variances in the timing and properties of the paralleled output bridge. Using 4 inductors insures that there is some impedance (the impedance of the inductor) between the paralleled output bridge rather than tying the outputs together at the device pins.

On low power devices, the bridges can generally be paralleled at the device pins only requiring 2 inductors since operating voltages and currents are much lower.

    Best Regards,

    Matt
