Power Consumption for the TLV320AIC34 in 96KHz Dual-Rate Mode

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TLV320AIC34

The DS for the TLV320AIC34 shows that there is 96KHz dual-rate mode.  However, there aren't any power consumption numbers for this mode.  Can you please supply the Power Consumption for the TLV320AIC34 in 96KHz dual-rate mode - prefferably per channel, please.

Thank you.

  • Hi, Steve,

The power consumption depends of the ADC/DAC channels that you're using. Please take a look of the following table, the values were measured on a TLV320AIC34EVM. The sample frequency was configured as 96kHz dual-rate mode:

    DRVDD AVDD IOVDD DVDD
    Voltage 3.3V 3.3V 3.3V 1.8V
    Current

    Stereo Playback:
    2.22 mA (LDAC, RDAC enabled)
    9 mA (LDAC enabled)

    Differential input to digital output:
    150uA (LADC, RADC enabled)
    80uA (LADC enabled)

    Stereo Playback:
    5mA (LDAC, RDAC enabled)
    4.3mA (LDAC enabled)

    Differential input to digital output:
    0mA (LADC, RADC enabled)
    0mA (LADC enabled)

    Stereo Playback:
    15uA (LDAC, RDAC enabled)
    15uA (LDAC enabled)

    Differential input to digital output:
    40uA (LADC, RADC enabled)
    32uA (LADC enabled)

    Stereo Playback:
    1.3mA (LDAC, RDAC enabled)
    1mA (LDAC enabled)

    Differential input to digital output:
    3.9mA (LADC, RADC enabled)
    2.7mA (LADC enabled)

The table contains the measurements for two channels (marked as "LDAC, RDAC enabled") and one channel (marked as "LDAC enabled"). I used a MCLK = 11.2896MHz, BCLK = 2.8224 MHz and WCLK = 44.1KHz.

I hope this helps you. If you still have questions, please let me know.

    Best regards,
    Luis Fernando Rodríguez S.
