TAS5717 BD register settings.

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TAS5717

Hi,

I want to configure my TAS5717 in BD PWM mode. What are all registers should I update?. Please help me with the value of 0x05,0x20,and 0x25.

  • Hi, Safeer,

You need to update only register 0x20 to configure the output PWM channels in BD mode, this is done via bit 23 for channel-1 and bit 19 for channel-2. So, you need to write 0x00 89 77 72 to register 0x20. Also, we recommend to use the Inter channel delay (ICD) settings for BD mode from the table of page 47 of the datasheet.

  • Hi Diego,
Thank you for your reply. It is really helpful.

We tried with the same register values and still we are facing some issues.
In TAS5717 datasheet page no 41,in the explanation of 0x05 register bit no D3(attached below) point no 1 talking about register 0x25.

' 1. In speaker mode, a value of 0 means device is in not in ternary modulation (AD
or BD as defined in register 0x25).
    2. In headphone mode, 0 means channel volume in headphone mode = 0x0C
    (headphone volume register). '

Can you please explain the 0x25 register ,Please suggest me a value for it?

    Many Thanks,
    Safeer.
  • Hi, Safeer,

The mention of register 0x25 may be a typo, and should be 0x20. For this device, the only register that should be changed to configure the PWM outputs on AD or BD mode is register 0x20.

Register 0x25 is used to mux the PWM outputs to the desired output of the amplifier. You may keep the default values so Channel-1 output is in Out_A and Out_B, while Channel-2 output will be in Out_C and Out_D.
