TPA2028 Settings

Hello,

In one of our projects, we are considering to replace the existing amplifier with TPA2028. It seems that we need to set TPA2028 registers again after every EN pin disable/enable cycle.

Is it really necessary to do this all the time, or there is a way to keep the custom settings even when the amplifier is disabled?

Unfortunately, this device is designed to reset default settings when the EN pin is disable/enable cycle.
Please let me know your opinion.

Hi Jose.

We tested this amplifier and generally it works fine. However, this behavior of the disable/enable cycle is not too suitable for our application because it takes additional time on the I2C bus which we also use for other peripherals.

On the other side, we tested various combinations of the Fixed gain, AGC, DRC. But, as we have seen from the datasheet, if fixed gain is above some value (7dB I think), we don't get much from DRC, and we need more gain, 20-25dB...

Hi Ivica

You must take into account Compression Ration to use the AGC/DRC. The Compression Ratio is affected for the fixed gain value and It affects output signal amplitude, you can refer to the Compression Ration section of the amplifier's datasheet to find more information. Please let me know if you have more questions.
