TAS5727 Can't turn off LRBiquadGanging

The TAS52xx GUI says it's "Off", but settings to BQ3 (and BQ1) also affect the other channel.  Likewise settings to BQ4 (and BQ2) affect (actually replace) the settings of BQ3 (and BQ1).

When I click "Apply and Draw" in the biquad GUI, the settings to BQ3 are applied to the channel supposedly being controlled by BQ4, and vice versa.  Whichever one I click last replaces the settings of the other.

Example: BQ3#1 set for HP BW2 2000Hz.  Clicking "apply and draw" puts the filter on both channels.  Then BQ4#1 is set for LP BW2 2000Hz.  Clicking "apply and draw" affects both channels, and replaces the previous settings.

  • Hi, Andrew

Thanks for the call, I will post the solution so anyone else can check it as reference.

The GUI sets by default the Bi-quad ganging as ON. To solve this, you need to turn OFF and ON the EQs via bit D7 of register 0x50 after disabling Bi-quad ganging.

So, the sequence to program the biquads individually after connecting with the GUI is:

    • Disable Biquad ganging - Reg 0x50 D4=0
    • Turn Off EQs - Reg 0x50 D7=1
    • Turn ON EQs - Reg 0x50 D7=0

I just verified in my EVM and this works.
