TAS5715 Current question

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TAS5715EVM, TAS5715, TAS5753MD, TAS5751M

Hello,

I found a strange during TAS5715EVM checked.

5715EVM operation and then Audio In & Output Load is open, but PVDD(14v) and Current(0.24A).

5715 output component is very high heat, but other part(5713EVM) checked 14V, 0.03A.

Please send me your comment.

Best regards,

Eddy

  • Hi, Eddy,

Before anything, I would like to mention that we have newer devices than TAS5715, whose performance, reduced BOM, easier end-system integration and collateral information makes them a better option for new designs. You may take a look to our new TAS5753MD that will be available in a couple months, or, if headphone functionality is not required, I think our TAS5751M could be a good choice.

About your question, No-load test condition is not recommended, since the LC-filter response can have significant peaking. The current consumption in the EVM may be related to the output filter components and board. Can you please share the register settings used to configure the amplifier?

  • HI,Diego

    Thank you for your comment.

And I find problem point is  snubber parts location of output at TAS5715EVM schematic.

    Heating issue cleared.

    Best Regards,

    Eddy
