PCM1864EVM Windows Driver to support 4-ch microphone inputs

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: PCM1864EVM

Hi everyone,

We bought one PCM1864EVM, and wants to use it as an external sound card to record 4-ch Microphone inputs on a Windows PC.

After installing Purepath console, we can find two PCM1864EVM under the Audio input/output equipments in  windows. However, when we use recording softwares to record the microphone inputs, we can only find two channels, and can only aquire the data from VIN1 and VIN2.

Does anyone knows how to record VIN3 and VIN4? we need VIN3 and VIN4 inputs together with VIN1 and VIN2? If not, is this because of the driver of PCM1864EVM?

  • Hi Nestor,

The interface IC we use to go from USB to I2S and I2C can only transport 2 channels of audio over a single I2S to USB stream. In order to get more than two channels you will need to use another I2S to USB device such as a processor, (beaglebone black for example) which would require some programming, or something like an XMOS module made by a third party.
