Need a simple SPDIF to DAC solution

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: PCM2903, PCM2902C

We are implementing a PCM2902C for a USB to audio in/out interface, and as I understand it, the DIN (for SPDIF) is only routed to the USB, whereas we need SPDIF to DAC. Will I need to use different ICs, or is there a variant of the PCM2902C that will do the job? It looks like the PCM2903 might, but the difference is not clear.

Slightly confused!

So basically, we want USB to DAC, ADC to USB (the PCM2902C does these two) and SPDIF to DAC.

Thanks in anticipation!

Simon

  • Hi Simon,

Unfortunately PCM290* family are not able to route the S/PDIF input into the DAC, it is routed to the USB interface for recording and playback only.
You may need a different interface for the S/PDIF to DAC, perhaps using one of the DIR devices family and then a DAC from the DAC or PCM families.
