i am trying to build power amplifier whose output should be 10-20w to drive the 8 ohms speaker for our active noise control system.

honestly the optimal solution is to find a mono power amplifier IC to do that. but i cant find a mono which satisfy the output power requirement of our speaker.

since i need only output one channel signal, i am just wondering if the following configuration is feasible:

1. for SE mode, only use one channel and one speaker and leave alone another.

2. for BTL mode, ground one input end and connect signal to another (i'm not sure if the distortion will appear using it this way and i noticed i need a DC blocking caps at the output cos dc wouldnt be cancelled)

any suggestion will be appreciated.

Considering the output power that would be limited to 20watts, I have to give up 3112.

From your suggestion, does it mean those two configuration I proposed above doesn't make sense?

Both solution of TPA3122D2 can't achieve your target. If you want to achieve 20watt/8ohm, you can also use TPA3130D2 as PBTL mode.

Probably you are not clear of my question. I just wanna use 3122d2 to get a mono output but don't want differential input.

So I proposed those 2 configuration above. There is no strict requirements of output power but no more than 20.

As your output power is 10w~20w into 8ohm.

If your PVCC is high enough, you can your solution 1 for TPA3122, I am not sure this setting can achieve your target, because this is SE output mode, even you use PVCC=30V, the max output power into 8ohm will limited to <15^2/16= 14w.

If your PVCC is not high enough, you can use BTL output mode (Solution 2) for TPA3122. I think datasheet Figure 29 has showed how to use this mode.
