pcm1753 left justified mode

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: PCM1753

as default after power up, the pcm1753 has left justified audio interface mode.

In the register description 24 or 16 bits is mentioned ( one should asume 16bit frame as well).

However in the format figure, bck 48x or 64x fs is mentioned, which is a bit confusing.

The part does not seem to operate on a 32 bick LR frame ( 2 x 16bits data). is

it correct to assume that only 2x24 or 2 x 32bit lr frames are supported?

Geert

  • Hi, Geert,

Effectively, the audio data format is supported from 16-bit to 24-bit as mentioned in Figure 27 of datasheet ( www.ti.com/.../pcm1753.pdf ).

A BCLK of 48xfs and 64xfs is supported, but the valid data will depend of the configuration of the word length. I mean, for example, if 48xfs is selected (24 BCLK per channel) and a 20-bit word length is selected, there will be only 20 valid bits per channel. The remained 4-bits won't be valid data.
