TPA3130D2: TPA3130D2 Noise Issue

Part Number: TPA3130D2
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPA3118D2EVM,

Hi Team,

The customer is using TPA3130D2. When the TPA3130D2 device start up, there is some noise for TPA3130D2.

The attachment is the customer's schematic. And the PVCC=AVCC=11.1V .

What is the reason? How to solve the issue?

Best Wishes,

  • Hi, Mickey
It seems customer's schematic has some mistakes.
Why they use 10nF and 1kohm resistor to act as a High pass filter in TPA3130D2's input, could you confirm with customer if they have a Low pass filter between the Codec's output and TPA3130D2 input, we need a LPF to filter the out band noise of the DAC (Delta-sigma out band noise), or the Class D's switching frequency (we can think it as the sample frequency) will fold back the out band noise to audio band . You can reference PCM5121D2EVM board, a 470ohm and 2.2nF is been used to filter the out band noise.
Please also make sure TPA3130D2 input has AC coupling capacitor (for example, 1uF) , suggest customer change R304~R307 to 1uF capacitor. You can reference TPA3130D2EVM/TPA3118D2EVM 's input circuit for your reference.
Also, use a 1kohm between TPA3130/18/16D2's input and GND is incorrent, need AC coupling with codec's output or GND.
