Hi e2e,

One of my customer is trying to use our TAS5622+TAS5558 preceded by a PCM185 in  an industrial power amp. They need to use an audio transformer at the amplifier output to match the existing 70V speaker network. They're concerned about possible issues related to loading the Class D with a transformer. Can you please assist?

Also can you share more technical documentation on the TAS5622A - there's not a lot on the web. Thank you!

    Sorry for the delay.

    Our datasheet specifies the loading that our devices can accommodate given a load similar to a speaker. We do not directly test driving transformers or similar loads. This being said, as long as the transformer looks more or less like a speaker, the system should be able to handle it. One thing to keep in mind is that a typical transformer might represent a much larger inductive load than a typical speaker. Given a state that our device would go into Hi-Z while a large enough current is flowing (such as a thermal shut-down) the extra inductance could cause a large voltage spike that could damage the device.

    You request more technical documentation, which documents are you missing?
