PCM5101A: Power Supply

Part Number: PCM5101A

Hi,

If the condition that VDD is not supplied power though AVDD and CPVDD are 3.3V continues, does PCM5101A have any problem?

Best regards,

Akio Ito

  • Hi, Ito-san,

My colleague will take a look at this. He will answer as soon as possible.

  • Luis-san,

Your colleague can answer about this question? I have to answer to our customer. I accept even if your answer is that you do not know because TI does not test it on this condition. I want some answer about this. Please reply to me.

    Best regards,

  • Dear Ito-san,

As far as the power supply distribution and requirements for PCM5101A goes, the DVDD powers Digital IO, DSP core etc. and if we provide the PCM5101A w. just AVDD and CPVDD, and NO DVDD, the part will not be able to function as there will be no output and will go thro power-on reset.

Can you please elaborate on what scenario you are trying  to address where you see AVDD and CPVDD but no DVDD being supplied? Thanks.

    Best regards,
    Ravi

  • Hello, Ravi-san,

I can't explain why only DVDD should be power down. But I understand our customer must use various kind of devices on their board. The power supplies of PCM5101A should be shared with some other devices, because they must not be able to prepare the power supply exclusively for each devices. They never intend to power off only DVDD of PCM5101A.

    Best regards,
