TLV320AIC3253EVM-K: Starting time until outputting sound

Part Number: TLV320AIC3253EVM-K

Hi,

It takes 5sec from setting by I2C from outputting sound on the TLV320AIC3253EVM.

Is there any way to shrink this starting time?

Best Regards,

Kuramochi

  • Kuramochi-san,

Are you using the AIC3253 CS software to configure the TLV320AIC3253EVM? I recommend to use it and select the USB interface as I2C fast. This will increase the I2C clock frequency and will allow to write the I2C command in a faster way.

Additionally, I recommend to use one of the typical configurations. These are predefined configurations that are useful to program the registers correctly.

Please let me know if you have additional questions or comments about this.

    Best regards,

  • Hi Luis-san,

    Thank you for your answer.
We'll try to use the CS software.

This 5sec delay is also occurred on the customer's board which is controlled by uC.
The customer's circuit is almost same with the EVM.
What is this delay caused by?

  • Hi, Kuramochi-san,

The EVM shouldn't take much time to reproduce a sound. Normally, it only takes the register configuration time and the output driver power-up time (which is around the milliseconds). The CS software contains several predefined codes that customer can use to configure the EVM. I recommend to use one of them to compare the resulting time.

Please let me know if the problem persists.

  • Hi Luis-san,

    Thank you for your help.

The reason of this slow start up time was setting of the resister "HP amps slow power up time".

Start up time becomed faster by turning off "HP amps slow power up time".

However,as a matter of course, the pop noise is occurred.

Is there any way to reduce pop noise except turning off  "HP amps slow power up time"?

    Best Regards,

    Kuramochi

  • Hi, Kuramochi-san,

The "HP amps slow power up time" option is used to reduce pops at the headphone outputs. I recommend to leave this option enabled and modify the options "Soft routing step time" and "HP amps powerup time determined by". These options control the power up time. So, you may reduce this time and reduce/eliminate the pop sounds.
