TLV320AIC3105EVM-K: CAN'T GET AUDIO OUTPUT FROM ANY EVM BOARD OUTPUTS.

Part Number: TLV320AIC3105EVM-K

Hi,

I have connected the EVM and after a bit of trouble I was able to get it up and running, Turns out I had to download the latest drivers from National Instruments. Now I can at least connect the software GUI to it without it asking me to "retry" the USB connection. Had nothing to do with the USB driver.

After spending a whole day I cannot simply connect a signal generator to line 2 L and get an output from either headset left channel (in SE) or line output in left channel. I have checked jumpers and settings according to the user manual. I do recall having some output for a moment but it quickly disappeared. Looked like hardware was not getting a stiff bias and the center reference voltage was floating around or drifting. The signal then begins to disapear with clipping on the positive side of the sine wave. I thought it may be the ADC reference voltage was not set. Anyway, if anyone has had this problem, please let me know. It may be just operator error on my part. Staring at the screen for hours can make you miss something staring you in the face! I've pressed every button imaginable on the GUI but other than the offset drifting output I managed to get, nothing. Maybe I just have a busted board? Oh I noticed the signal would appear if I raised the input level from my signal generator. Perhaps causing the inputs to self bias momentarily?

Thanks,

Jerry

  • Hi, Jerry,

Welcome to E2E and thank you for your interest in our products!

I would recommend to try several things to ensure that the ADC and DAC portions work correctly and independently.

First, place all the jumpers in default state as mentioned in the User's Guide. After this, select one of the playback preset configurations in the GUI. This will completely configure the EVM to use one of the analog outputs ( I would recommend to start trying the lineout pins). Then, ensure that the PC is being recognizing the EVM. Start playing an audio file (you may use the Windows Media Player). In the audio file, ensure that the EVM is selected as the playback device. You should get any sound at the line outputs. If this doesn't work, please try with another playback configuration.

Please let me know if the problem persists.

    Best regards,
    Luis Fernando Rodríguez S.
