TPA3245: modulation scheme for TPA32xx series amplifiers

In looking through the datasheets of TI's highest-performing class D amps (the TPA32xx series), I don't see any mention of the modulation scheme used.

I'm hoping one of the alternative schemes like BD, 1SPW, or ternary is being used as opposed to traditional AD modulation, but would appreciate definitive clarification from someone at TI.  Regardless of what is used, I assume it is baked into the part and can't be user-selected.

    You are correct in that the modulation cannot be changed, and the TPA32XX family uses AD modulation. Is there a specific reason you were looking for another scheme?

  • Thanks for the reply Justin - I suspected that was the case. Yes, I was hoping for BD modulation for the purpose of output filter elimination. I can deal with it, but this is a design where space is at a particular premium, and the LC components are some of the largest.

    Am I correct in assuming there are no other TI class D amplifiers in this same class of performance that feature BD modulation?
