PCM5102EVM-U: SNR

Part Number: PCM5102EVM-U
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: PCM5102A, PCM5101A,

Hi,

A customer measured audio performance of PCM5102EVM-U. The SNR was 106dB, so he made a complaint about it. Because it is worse 6dB than typical value of the PCM5102A specification, same as PCM5101A specification.

I also measured the SNR of another PCM5102EVM-U using the System Two Cascade by Audio Precision. The SNR without A-weight filter was 106dB, because both filters cannot be enabled at the same time on System Two Cascade. However, the SNR of PCM5102A specification is A-weighted value. Is the difference of 6dB caused by A-weight filter?

Best regards,

Akio Ito

  • Hi, Ito-san,

The performance showcased in the datasheet is measured under the specified test conditions in the Electrical Characteristics table. the SNR spec should be measured with an A-weighted filter, deviation from the measurement method will result in a spec mismatch.
