TAS5717: TAS5717 about the single ended output question

Hi Team,

The customer would like to use TAS5717  for the  single ended output.  

Would you provide a reference schematic for the single ended output? How to modify the registers?

    Hello Mickey! Alex can help you further with your question, but the TAS5717 is just a different power level version of the TAS5719 and does not support SE. Could TAS5721 or TAS5731M work? Thanks, Jeff

    Can TAS5721 or TAS5731M be replaced TAS5717 for pin to pin?

    Please refer to the SE-A and SE-B outputs in the EVM schematics. These can be found at the end of the user guide docs linked below

    Neither is pin to pin. How is the customer trying to use the single ended output? 2.1 configuration will not be possible with the 5721 as noted above. It may be possible to wire speakers single ended to the 5717 but you will be forced to have the same sound from the AB and CD channels.

    Q1: If the customer would like to only use the left speaker output or the  right speaker output for TAS5717, will TAS5717 work?

    I note a post that the customer  only uses the left speaker output.

    If the customer only uses the left speaker output or the  right speaker output for TAS5717 and TAS5717 can work, can the reference schematic be the same

    as this customer's post?

    Q2: Now the customer's speaker is 8ohm. He think the output volume for 5717 is small.  Is there any solution to increase the volume?

    Hi Mickey,

    The 5717 has 4 output channels. Yes, you can configure the device in AD mode and only wire the speaker to a single channel (channel A for example), you will not be able to turn off channel B and should just leave it disconnected. Configure channels B,C, and D as advised in your linked forum post.

    Why does the customer want to use single ended mode? If they can I would advise using this configuration as a last resort, especially if the customer is worried about volume issues, since you are only using 1/4 of the available power on the device. If the PVDD level is too low with an 8 ohm load you can have some volume issues so I would advise consulting the output power vs supply voltage graph at 8ohms in the datasheet to get an idea of what PVDD your customer needs to get the desired volume. Note that this graph is for BTL mode. In single ended mode you will get one quarter of the power stated in the graph.
