PCM1863EVM: PCM1863EVM ( FWID ? )

Part Number: PCM1863EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: PCM1865

Hi TI experts,

I think I might delete the FWID of the PCM1863EVM, I cannot enter and choose the correct target. (((* If I plug the EVM board to computer first, then load the software. It will automatically jump to "Config Runner Tool" instead of asking me to "Manually Choose a Target". So I do it another way as below steps trying to find out. )))

1) Load the PPC2 software (without plug in the 1863EVM), then PPC2 pop up a window with a icon ( Manually Choose a Target ) , then I click on it and choose (PCM186x). Then PPC2 defaulted itself as PCM1865/4.

2) After that, I plug in the 1863EVM

3) a window pop up ( Device found has no FWID ) , and ask me to ( Connect as PCM186x ) , so I click on it

4) ( Refreshing Setting ) window pop up atomically for few second, then PPC2 open itself as PCM1865/4 again meanwhile the left cancer of the window shows (Connected to device

5) then I click on the ( Direct I2C Read/Write ) column and click in ( FWID),  I found that  ( EVM FWID , Secondary FWID are all blank

Do you think the problem caused by FWID missing ?  Are there any methods I can fix that problem ?

Thank you

Fai Chan

  • Hi, Fai,

Thanks for he detailed information. As you mention, it appears that the FWID of the PCM1863EVM was erased. You should be able to re-program it in the Direct I²C Read/Write tab, with the FWID tool. Please type FWIDPCM1863EVM in the secondary FWID section as indicated in below picture and click Write to program the the EEPROM of the EVM with the correct firmware. You can read the FWID again to verify the EEPROM is correctly programmed.

After this process is complete, the board should be detected automatically as PCM1863EVM once you disconnect and connect the USB cable.
