TPA321: TDA321 output impedance when in Shutdown is active.

I have a question about the TPA321D TI audio amplifier.  My question is this: if the shutdown pin of the amplifier is held high (amplifier is held in “shutdown” mode), will the VO+ (pin 8) and VO- (pin 5) pins be in a high impedance state?  I want to multiplex signals on these pins: have them be analog output signals in one mode but have digital signals on them in “shutdown” mode.  I need to know if the digital inputs (5V or gnd) on VO+ and VO- will damage the TPA321D.  I’m hoping that you can get some contact in TI to give me an answer.  The data sheet doesn’t give me an answer.

    Hello Todd,

    The device is in high impedance when the shutdown mode is active. I think that your application shouldn't have any problem if the device is in shutdown mode while the digital signal is multiplexed.
