Class D power amp

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPA3008D2, TPA3137D2, TPA3111D1

I'm looking for a class D power amp that will get a signal from audio codec SGTL5000.

The analog headphone output will enter the amplifier. The SGTL5000 datasheet says a

16 Ohm load is handled by the analog headphone output. There is no mention of mono

use of headphones in this datasheet.

The application uses a 4 ohm 3W loud speaker (mono). I read the TI app note on Class D

amplifier design. I found a 10 W TI stereo class D part that can handle 16 Ohm load

but no less than 8 ohms with an EVM. (TPA3008D2). What

are my options for class D amplifier choice?

Thanks,

Priya

  • Hi Priya,
TPA3008D2 is a ver old device, and the support resouce is also very limited for it. Considering that your application is based on mono mode, I think you could check with TPA3111D1. And you could also use TPA3137D2 in PBTL mode, this device has ver good EMI performance.
