PCM5242RHBEVM SPDIF&Optical input

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: PCM5242RHBEVM, TPA3244EVM

hello

I Have used the PCM5242RHBEVM + TPA3244EVM, and when input with Coaxial SPDIF or Optical, there is no output.

I have followed the jumper setting as configulation tab, but it also no output. so what should I do next? thanks~

  • Jason,

The Applications Engineer responsible for this device is currently out of office at a trade show, returning next week. I will do what I can to look into this thread and try to get you an answer before then.
  • Hi Kevin:

I have found the I2C Command to solve the problem in E2E, Thanks~

    https://e2e.ti.com/support/data_converters/audio_converters/f/64/p/501935/1818532#1818532

And I have applied PP3 request for 3 time, but No reply yet.  So I only can use the I2C Master to control the PCM5242EVM....

  • Jason,

I spent some time with the device datasheet and the EVM User's Guide and it appears to me that the board is configured correctly.

I would assume you are using PurePath Console as the host controller for this EVM? Perhaps share the configuration you are using there assuming that is the case.

Since the device is in I2C mode, one of my concerns is what I2C address the software tools are using and if the ADR1 pin is configured correctly. A quick test to that end might be just removing the jumper and trying again and/or probing the I2C bus itself to see what I2C address it is using. Unfortunately as I do not regularly support these devices, I do not have hardware on hand to do this myself.

My secondary debug suggestions would just be to verify that all of the supplies are present and stable on the board. My understanding from the User's Guide is that all of this is sourced from the USB connection but it would be helpful to double-check anyhow. Basically just checking for stability of the 1.8V and 3.3V rails.

The other question I have is where you were previously probing the system in order to detect that there was no output. Were you looking directly at the OUTRP, OUTRN, OUTLN, and OUTLP signals? Or, where you looking more at the "system level" outputs of the PCM5242RHBEVM + TPA3244EVM?
  • Hi Jason,

Thank you for the update. Personally I do not approve or deny access requests, but I will see if I can find a way to resolve that for you.
  • OK. Thank you very much~
  • Hi Jason,

You have been granted access to PPC. Please note that you will need to use PPC2 for the PCM5242EVM.

    Thanks!
    Paul
  • Hi Paul,

So where can I download the PPC2 Software? thanks~

    Jason
  • Hi Jason,

You can access the software at ti.com/mysecuresoftware

    Thanks,

    Paul

  • OK, I have found it~
    Thank you very much
