LM4876: LM4876 with a polarized speaker

Part Number: LM4876

Does the LM4876 work with polarized speakers? I want to use this amp to drive CUI's GC0401S speaker.

My understanding is the differential outputs are not polarized; either signal can go to either terminal. The GC0401S has "+" and "-" markings on the terminals which implies a distinction must be made.

Can either speaker terminal connect to either output terminal, do they have to be in a specific order, or is this speaker not suitable for a differential input?

  • Hi Peter,

This device can work with polarized speakers. The differential output is not polarized as the audio output is a sine wave, so both outputs receive positive and negative signal. You can connect the device's output terminal to either speaker terminal.
