TAS5717: Speaker & Earphone output with the noise

Hi :

We use the TAS5717 as the Audio DSP & AMP, and there has the noise (sound like the current noise, fix frequency), the earphone and speaker both have.

The attachment is the schematic and register map, pls take a review them have any wrong or not.

The below is the method that we have been verify and no any effect:

1. Use the external power to supply the power of AVDD(Pin 8 & 13);

2. Change the capacitor C31 from 0.1uF to 1uF;

3. Cut the data line of I2S input, no any effect, but if cut the Bclk of I2S input, earphone will be works well without noise;

4. I2S configure: 32bit, LRCLK: 48K; Bclk: 3.072MHz, MCLK: 24.576MHz;

5. below the pic is the waveform when don't has the noise, test point : nearly the earphone jack, after CE19.

6. below the pic is the waveform when has the noise, test point : nearly the earphone jack, after CE19.

    You set this question to 'answered' previously, so we thought the issue has been already fixed. Adam will help you on this.
    Before that, please let me clearify the background of this issue. The noise can be heard on both speaker and headphone after power p and configure the amp. The noise dissappears after cutting off SCLK input trace on the board. Is my understanding correct? What if you just stop the input I2S stream, the noise is still there? What if you MUTE the output signal?
    Did you perform FFT on the output signal in the audio band? From the SCH, AVDD is connected to GND by R64 1kHz capacitor, why is it there? Please use 18.2kohm for R385. Please use 2.2nF capacitor for C444 on SSTIMER. But it shouldn't cause noise issue. Please refer to our TAS5717 EVM design, which is a good example. www.ti.com/.../slou303.pdf
    We never heard of the noise isse on TAS5717 before. Let's analyze the frequency components of the noise then find where it is from.

    -> Yes, it's more obviously when at low volume.
    What if you just stop the input I2S stream, the noise is still there? What if you MUTE the output signal?
    -> stop I2S stream or cut off BCLK, the noise will be disappear. but MUTE the out signal (you mean set HP_SD low?), the noise will be disappear. but if play the mute file(the blank auido file) , the noise will appears.
    Did you perform FFT on the output signal in the audio band?
    -> No, the front end have no any act about FFT or resample. I have been try use the local command to play audio , the noise still appears.

    Is it possible that the noise is from the input signal? Could you please help to double-check the I2S format configuration in the register 0x04?
    Could you please capture the output signal (with noise) and perform FFT on it by AP or other audio measurement instrument? In this way, we could know the frequncy of the noise, then we could find the source of it. Did you try to disable the DRC and EQ? Can you replicate the issue on the TAS5717 EVM? What if you use the I2S source from the MC57xxPSIA mother board?
