TLV320AIC3253EVM-K: Invalid FWID / using too old dev kit / too new PurePath Studio?

Part Number: TLV320AIC3253EVM-K

I'm working on getting up and running with a TLV320AIC3253EVM-K Development board sitting on top of the USB modem interface. On Win10 and the drivers look like they installed fine. I just obtained PurePath Studio and all the supporting apps/documentation and have been going through the quick start (reworking the 3254 example for the 3253). Unfortunately, when I get to the point of downloading the code, I get a warning saying the the board has invalid FWID and tells me to select the appropriate board from a dropdown--but the TLV320AIC3253EVM-K does not appear ( the  TLV320AIC3254EVM-K, however does). I thought about just trying that, but didn't want to risk the possibility of bricking the board.

When I obtained the files from the software center--it only showed the latest (? I assume) releases. Wondering if there is an older release I should be getting somewhere instead.

  • Hi, Scott,

This issue indicates that the Firmware ID (FWID) of the EVM is not being recognized by PPS. The FWID is used by our software to determine which board is connected. For PurePath Studio it does not have any functional use so the evaluation of the device will be possible by skipping this step. You can just leave the FWID selection field in blank and click “OK” or click the “Cancel” button.
