DRV135: DRV135 makes pop noise occur.

Part Number: DRV135

DRV135 makes pop noise occur.

I'm Japanese. I'm sorry my poor English.

When I supply DRV135 with a power supply, pop noise occurs.

I supply +5V and -5V to DRV135.

Delay time less than 1ms to +5V and -5V.

What is the cause of pop noise?

Please teach me the advice to reduce pop noise.

Best regard.

  • Hi User,

do you have a coupling cap at the input?

What happens if you short Vin to GND for a test? Can you again hear a pop noise?

Sometimes it helps, when you have RC-filters in the power supply lines, e.g. 100R/100µF. Or you could slowly ramp up the supply voltages during power up.

Can you show us a schematic of your circuit?

  • Hi user3526689,

Is this pop noise a pop as the DRV135 is powered up or down, or is this a persistent noise present while the DRV135 is powered up?

Transients at the output of the amplifier are common during power up, as internal circuitry turns on and stabilizes. There's unfortunately not much that can be done to fix that at a system level, aside from disconnecting the output of the device from any downstream circuitry. While aggressively low-pass filtering the output may reduce the severity of the pop, it would also degrade bandwidth to a point where audio performance would be compromised.

A persistent pop or click after the device is powered up may be due to electromagnetic interference, or popcorn noise within the part itself (see this article by my colleague, Art Kay, for more information on popcorn noise).

We haven't heard back from you so we assume this resolved your issue. If not, post a reply below, or create a new thread if this one has timed-out.

    Thanks
