TPA751: Microphone and speaker to be run over long distance 40 meters approx

Part Number: TPA751

Dear ,

We have one new requirement which requires microphone and speaker to be run over long distance approx. 40 meters(basically human voice ). Do you have any suggestion of IC for preamplification (or any other)and that could run for that much distance.

We appreciate you if you could provide any reliable parts for the same with application note.

Currently we are using below microphone and speaker ., and for currently we are using TPA 751 to run the speaker for close distance, is it possible to run this amplifier to be run over 40 meters? Do I need any other parts at the end wires?

We can change the microphone and speaker but basic requirement is to run over long distance.

  • Hi Jameer,

It is a very unusual application. It is always recommended to place the speaker as close as possible the device to guarantee an adequate operation.
Unfortunately, we don't have any information about a similar application and don't have the equipment to do a test for an application like this.

  • Hi Jameer,

what exactly has to run over a long distance and why?

As José already told, it would not be a good idea to have the loudspeaker far away from its power amplifier. On the other hand, the condenser microphone should also have its amplifier nearby. But a simple remote powered OPAmp circuit close to the condenser microphone could do this job. Also the cable driving could be done very easily by this OPAmp circuit. The power supply for this remote OPAmp circuit could sit close to the power amplifier for the loudspeaker. Would this be an option?

  • In my application the push button , mic and speaker and some signal conditioning required is at one end and after 40 meters wire there is another push button ,mic and speaker along with the raspberry type board to make a call. The board should be able to make a call from both place(either from this end or form after 40 meters end) one at a time. So could you please let us know the exact which remote Opamp you are referring which can drive cable easily. Does it require power amplifier for speaker at both end? Also same Op Amp for mic at both end ?

    Please reply soon.

  • Hi Jameer,

you mean a normal two-way intercom system?

    Kai
  • Yes similar to that but cable length  between two is about 40-50 meters and call handling is at only one end.
