TAS5634EVM: Use of TAS5634EVM to drive 40KHz PWM array of ultrasonic transducers

Part Number: TAS5634EVM

I want to know can I use TAS5634EVM to drive (PWM) the array of 40KHz ultrasonic transducer array of 200 in quantity, all parallel?

Capacitance of each transducer is around 2400pf. If yes, what changes I need to do?

Sudhir

  • Sudhir,

Unfortunately we have not tested this type of loading and I'm not sure how the device would behave. We can only support Audio applications unfortunately.

  • Hi Sudhir,

could work. The EVAL board has LC filters at the output. You could decrease the 680nF filter caps to make room for the load capacitance introduced by the transducers. An example: 100 transducers have a total load capacitance of 240nF. Decrease the 680nF filter capacitances accordingly to achieve the same low pass corner frequency as before. Additionally I would introduce an ohmic dummy load to make the amplifier believe that a standard load is connected to the output. No guarantee, whether this will work...
