TPA3251: VDD Input

Part Number: TPA3251

Hello,

In the datasheet of the TPA3251 (SLASE40D, page 26, figure 27), there is low-pass filter (3.3ohm - 100nF) on the inputs GVDD and capacitors (470uF and 100nF) on the input VDD. But in the user guide TPA3251D2EVM (SLVUAG8A, page 14, figure6), there is a low-pass filter (3.3ohm - 100nF) on the input VDD and only capacitors on the inputs GVDD.

So which one is the good schematics?

Best regards

  • Didier,

The EVM doesn't use the additional 470uF because we know our 12V regulator doesn't need it. The reason this appears in the datasheet is because we expect some customers to use a 12V source that is worse than ours so as a fallback, we recommend the 470uF. The EVM also has locations where 0 Ohm resistors are installed. These are partially if someone needs to separate the supplies but also to that if we find that more filtering is needed, a series resistance can be added.

Ultimately, if you have room and cost available for the additional components, I'd leave a spot for them and then populate them as needed.

    Regards,
