DRV603: DC coupling

Part Number: DRV603

Hi all

Would you mind if we ask DRV603PW?

The customer consider using this device with Figure 13 configuration.(as second differential amplifier)
DRV inputs connect to DAC output.
DAC's offset is 2.5V.

<Question>
The customer would like to use this device with DC-Coupling which there is no C3 capacitance on Figure13.
Is it possible to configure with this condition?
If it occurs offset at DRV603's output, the customer plans to remove offset at DC cut circuit.
If it occurs any performance degradation, could you let us know?
Or, is this device only fitable for AC-coupling?
(In case of DC-coupling, it will be out of warranty?)

Kind regards,

Hirotaka Matsumoto

  • Hi Matsumoto-san,

    DC coupling at the input could possibly work but only using differential inputs, using single-ended input it would not be good.
    The amplitude of the signal should also be considered, since the offset is added to the amplitude of the signal, if it goes higher than supply voltage the input would be clipped. The differential input could remove the DC offset as it would be subtracted but it cannot avoid clipping if amplitude is too high.
    In addition, removing the input capacitance would modify the Multi-Feedback Filter topology and could cause change on its response. It should be tested to evaluate performance.
